Stormwater Management Is Imperative To Protecting Local Wildlife

Stormwater management is important as storm water runoff can create a multitude of problems. This can include erosion, flooding, overflowing sewers, contaminated waterways, and even affect the indigenous wildlife. Traditionally storm water management consisted of collecting the water and moving it to another location. Today individuals set up rain barrels and underground reservoirs to keep the rain water safely, especially in areas of drought and water shortage. Proper stormwater management can really be beneficial to an area, allowing for water to water gardens, and lawns. Proper stormwater management also prevents waterway contamination which can really affect the wildlife in the area, killing off fish and birds, and even flooding people's properties and creating mosquito breeding areas. Home and business owners can do their part to help with proper management of stormwater by using an appropriate system to control the runoff, and prevent flooding.
